Toronto Home Modification & Accessibility

Why sell your house in today's economy if you can modify it to live comfortably in your own home?

Especially amidst today's tough economic times, the aging population is choosing not to sell their homes and lose big profits on low property sales.

Instead, the newest, hottest trend in the housing community is what is now termed Barrier-Free Living.

Barrier Free living is a term that is taking builders and home owners by storm. Instead of having to lose a beautiful home for fear that there are too many stairs or that the washrooms are too small, people are choosing to renovate now to save themselves the pain and anguish of a strenuous and taxing move when they are older.

In other words, people are choosing to make their homes age-friendly or "accessible".

In order to make one's home completely accessible, without having any barriers (hence the name that was previously mentioned, "Barrier-free") people are installing big ticket items such as elevators, chair lifts, safe bathrooms, widening doorways, or small modifications such as grab bars and safety bars. All of these renovations are now being done without losing the natural beauty and chic décor of the home that you love and plan on living in for a lifetime.

In other words, home modification is the new "IT" in renovations.

Home modifications also involve adapting a home so that a person with disabilities can perform activities of daily living as safely and comfortably as possible while maintaining a strong sense of independence. The type of home modification required depends on the nature of the individual's disabilities and the physical set-up of the home.

An investment in home modification may eliminate or possibly delay the need for institutional care.

Barabco AccessAbility is one of the leading companies fronting this accessible-lifestyle living. In an interview, Dr. Stuart Siegel, a certified Aging in Place Specialist, remarked, “Barabco AccessAbility homes are designed to create a magnificent custom home with ’invisible accessibility that will allow aging or disabled individuals to live in their homes for as long as they desire.” At Barabco AccessAbility we believe accessible home modifications should beautify and enhance the value of your existing living environment.

Barabco AccessAbility is one of the only companies who utilize a combination of physicians, builders, architects, interior designers, and other professionals to assess and oversee the renovations to the home.

This is 2009. People are staying more active, are maintaining healthier lifestyles and are choosing not to sacrifice their homes for their age.

With a few modifications, you don't have to feel pressured out of your custom designed and comfortable home. Thanks to this new combination of accessibility and design, you can stay safe and comfortable in your new, lifetime-friendly home.
