How to Hang Wrought Iron Curtain Rods

Hanging curtains is one of the best ways to immediately change the look of your home. But obviously, there needs to be rods on which to hang the curtains. And if you are looking for a unique way to hang curtains that can make a big difference in both quality and appearance, then you should definitely consider wrought iron curtain rods as the way to go. They are among the best curtain rods that can be purchased since they offer a beautiful accent to any home decor as well as strength for holding up heavier curtains.

The first thing you need to consider when hanging wrought iron curtain rods is height. You need to think about the length of the curtains. The curtains should never drag on the floor. So be sure that when the curtain rod is hung, the curtains will hang just above the floor. Also, consider the width of the window and where to mount the brackets. As a rule of thumb, you can remember that there should be approximately four inches on either side of the winder which will be solid wood barrings. Try to mount your brackets in this area for added strength.

Even before you purchase curtains, you can determine what the length will be based on what is listed on the packaging. It is up to you how long you would like your curtains to hang. If they will not be going all the way to the floor, then they should hit about six inches below the window for full coverage of the window. Measure where the wrought iron curtain rods should be mounted based on the measurements of your curtains. Using a power drill, mount the brackets directly into the wood stud within that four inch area on either side of the window. This will be the most difficult part of the process. Once the brackets are installed, it is just a matter of putting the rod where it fits into the brackets and installing the finials, if any, to the ends of the rods.

Remember that if your wrought iron curtain rods come with tie backs to also mount them in the wood within the four inches on the sides of the windows. This will provide a secure way to hold back your curtains during the day. The last thing to be done is simply to enjoy your new curtains and take pride in the fact that you accomplished this project yourself!
