Solar Powered AC & Heating Is Here

Electricity can actually be free… thanks to solar power. Free, as in zero cost. We have a natural power company shining down on us every day that doesn’t cost a single cent. No service fees, no taxes, no deposits, no debits. Today, there is finally a way to affordably harness that free solar power and help eliminate what it costs to keep us cool or warm… which is half of that monthly electricity cost. And thanks in part to provincial and utility rebates, it’s actually an affordable way.

Every year I get more excited about the newer, greener heating and cooling products being developed. In 2008, the first solar-assisted heat pump was released by Lennox®, which was a landmark in itself. It featured a single solar panel that partly powered the unit’s fan motor. Now a new residential heating and air conditioning solar product has just been released, the Lennox SunSource® Home Energy System. More than your average HVAC system, they call it a home energy system because, well… that’s exactly what it is. The new SunSource system actually powers the entire HVAC system AND can also help to power your home. It’s the world’s only solar powered home energy system, and it’s a game-changer.

The system fully integrates solar power, harnessing the sun’s free and renewable energy to reduce the electricity used by the heat pump or air conditioning system, and to operate other devices in the home that consume electricity – such as lighting and appliances – when the system is not running. If the system generates more power than the home uses, the excess power is sent back to the utility company for a possible credit on the homeowner’s utility bill. It’s also expandable. Homeowners can start small with just one solar panel and expand the system over time to as many as 15 panels per outdoor HVAC unit.

How SunSource works to reduce your utility costs:

  • The solar modules harness the sun’s energy to power the SunSource® Solar-Ready heat pump or air conditioner.
  • When the heat pump or air conditioner isn’t running, the solar power can also operate other electrical devices in your home.
  • With net-metering, any surplus power goes back to the grid possibly entitling homeowner to a credit.
  • A communication module allows you to see the system status, energy production, and also shows the environmental benefits of using renewable energy for your home.

frozen water pipes
LAST YEAR WE BUILT A WASHROOM IN A HEATED BASEMENT. THIS YEAR THE WATER PIPES FROZE,EVEN THOUGH THE PERIMETER WALLS WERE INSULATED AND OF COURSE THE PIPES WERE INSTALLED JUST BEHIND THE DRYWALL (ALONG THE EXTERIOR CONCRETE BASEMENT WALLS). WE ARE TOTALLY PERPLEXED HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN SINCE SUPPLY LINES ARE BELOW FROST LINE WHICH IS 48" I WAS THINKING OF CUTTING HOLES SAY 4"X 8" ABOVE BASEBARD @ INTERVALS OF 24" SO THAT THE CAVITY BETWEEN THE STUD WALL AND CONCRETE WALL WHICH IS ABOUT 2" WOULD NOW BE HEATED I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR OPINION THANK YOU Read the answer »
