Table Decor Inspiration

Looking to spice up your table? Here are 10 tips that are sure to take your table from ordinary to extraordinary.

1. Get centered
Nothing brings subtle sophistication to your table like a well-selected runner. Use one the length of the table plus 12 inches to hang over the edge (usually a 90" or longer) as the perfect centerpiece. Keep it as a permanent fixture, or change it with each meal – the choice is all yours.

2. Mix or Match
Give your centerpiece some company. For real impact, add complimentary or contrasting placements and napkins to your runner.

3. Be Creative
Tired of seeing the same old configurations on your table? Want to wow your guests with you creativity? Try using two runners the width of the table instead of placemats. You’ll be sure to create a buzz.

4. Go the Extra Mile
Who says you can’t have it all? Add coordinated or complimentary placemats to the two runners you have on each side of the table to really get that “wow” factor.

5. Everything Old is New Again
Are your tablecloths ready for a facelift? Update old tablecloths by layering some great looking placemats or a runner on top.

6. Accessorize!
Even napkins deserve a night out on the town. Dress up those solid color napkins with a sexy napkin ring. You won’t believe the difference a little “bling” can make.

7. Take Two
Use 2 napkins instead of one with a napkin ring. With a solid napkin inside, and a more decorative napkin on the outside, your guests will give twice the compliments.

8. Cater to Your Guests
Your guests are all unique – why not celebrate their individuality? Use different patterns and/or colors of napkin rings that match their unique personalities. Are they simple or sophisticated? Fun or formal? Unpredictable or conservative? Show them you care with a little customization.

9. Have it Both Ways
Mix and match coordinated solids and patterns for an updated look. From place mats to runners, tablecloths to napkins, the world is your oyster to play with.

10. Mix it up
Be a little adventurous by using different complimentary colors of the same design. Alternate place settings with each different color and watch your table come to life. The food won’t be the only thing your guests are talking about.

Colourful Cornices
I have a long narrow living room space that opens into the hall, dining area, and kitchen. These areas are all white and cream colour (ex. walls and ceilings). The living room furniture are mission style with dark Merlot coloured wood. The carpet is a light tan. I don't have drapes on the windows but they have colorful window corners. Still the room feels a bit cold because the walls are bare. But I don't know to put on the walls because the paintings (their colors) I've tried to hang, end up clashing with the cornices.
