What’s a Green Consultant?
by www.increase-ideas.com,
Going Green is more than changing light bulbs, and fixing a dripping tap. Being green is not just about ‘saving the environment’ it is also about improving our lifestyle, our health, our children’s health, not just now but in the future too.
A Green Consultant can make sense of all the green, environmental and sustainable information that is available, they can explain Greenwashing = a business which proclaims or misleads the consumer to believe that the product in ‘green’ while it is anything but. Environmental law is a rapidly growing cause of litigation.
The purpose of a consultation is to test the indoor air quality, we spend 90% of our time indoors, at work, at home or at play: theatres, shopping centres, arenas, schools, offices, factories, churches, condos, hotels, cars, etc, etc, etc. The indoor air we breathe can and does affect our health, our moods, our outlook, our sleeping, our ability to learn and our enjoyment of life. Having an Indoor Air Quality test done, can show you just what you are breathing everyday, the results can show you what you need to change. Easily follow recommendations to make your space non-toxic, energy efficient, comfortable and safe.
Do you have babies crawling around the floor? Do you clean your kitchen floor with chemicals? Do your children crawl around the kitchen floor, and then put their hands in their mouths? They are actually putting the chemicals in their mouths, and their system.
A Green Consultant can evaluate any indoor space, suggest plants to actually clean the air, offer alternatives to petro-chemical based household products, suggest furniture and furnishings that do not off-gas. Offer suggestions to save lots of money and lower your expenses ie: lighting & hydro bills, water bills, dumping fees, groceries, cleaning bills, medications (due to less toxins in the air). Have you ever wondered why you feel better when you’ve been house-bound and you go outside for some fresh air?
Being Green can and will save lots of money for homeowners and businesses. Being Green costs about 5-10% more in the short term, but can and will save hundreds or thousands of dollars year after year after year.
The Return on Investment (ROI) $0.00 to unlimited $, can be immediate, or 18-24 months, after 2 years you will be saving lots of money. Not to mention that you will also feel much healthier and you can enjoy spending the extra money you now have.

Colourful Cornices
I have a long narrow living room space that opens into the hall, dining area, and kitchen. These areas are all white and cream colour (ex. walls and ceilings). The living room furniture are mission style with dark Merlot coloured wood. The carpet is a light tan. I don't have drapes on the windows but they have colorful window corners. Still the room feels a bit cold because the walls are bare. But I don't know to put on the walls because the paintings (their colors) I've tried to hang, end up clashing with the cornices.
