The Britannia House
The homeowner wanted to renovate the whole main level to include a bright new contemporary kitchen with walk-in pantry and skylight, an additional third bedroom, and an addition to the main floor that encompassed a new master Bedroom with an expanded Ensuite bathroom. This renovation also included renovating the main bathroom, living, dining and family room.
To meet the homeowner's wish list, Kurmak Builders started with the kitchen skylight; a pop-up skylight roof was designed with exposed trusses. These exposed trusses provided structural integrity at an economical price and a contemporary design element. To integrate the renovation into the existing home, the kitchen skylight pop-up roof was integrated into the existing roof structure over the existing kitchen of the home and the new master bedroom and Ensuite bathroom where both integrated off their original locations on the main floor of the home. The master bedroom addition was done in an area of the backyard that had no space for excavation equipment so the addition was done with piles that were done by hand.
The special features and innovations of the renovation are as follows:
- Pop-up skylight roof in the kitchen to allow maximum sunlight
- Large island with cook top and seating for 4 people
- Large walk-in pantry
- Vaulted ceilings in the master bedroom
- Master Ensuite with spa tub, water closet, and walk-in shower stall
- Large walk-in closet in the master bedroom
- New deck with access off the master bedroom
