Blending the kitchen and dining room into a single open space creates an open, modern space that allows the chef to interact with guests.
As the years pass by, the homes that were built in the 1950s to accommodate the baby boom start to feel darker and cramped. At least, that’s how these Etobicoke, Ontario homeowners felt about their space when they decided make a change. The home had a lot of room, but quartered-off areas made it feel smaller, and the layout was inconvenient for entertaining.
Is your garage so full of lawn equipment, holiday decorations and miscellaneous items you have to park your car in the drive? Or maybe you have so much stuff stored in the attic that your ceilings are starting to sag. If this sounds like your home, a stylish storage shed, garden shed, or backyard barn is just the space-expanding solution you need.
This 1950s brick bungalow was small and outdated. Planning for the future was a key theme, as our clients wanted a home to meet the changing needs of their family. Structural plans included building a second-storey addition, reconfiguring the main floor and enlarging the kitchen.
Styled after the Shaker elements of design aesthetics, this striking kitchen renovation is also a prime example of “Vancouverism” as it belongs to a condo in a landmark building in the Coal Harbour area of downtown Vancouver.
Air compressors can be used for more than pumping up tires. In fact, these versatile tools can power nail guns, spray guns, wrenches and many other tools. When shopping for air compressors, you ’ll come across two basic types.
The impressive vaulted turret ceiling of the stunning new addition is the highlight of this exterior renovation.
Three segregated, boxy rooms were transformed into an open great room that still retained the unique identity of each area.
This renovation is the perfect example of how professionals can take an average home and transform it into the epitome of modernity.
This BC home was definitely a blast from the past that seriously needed to go back to the future. The updated rooms are not only stunning incarnations that are bright and open, they will certainly still be classics for decades to come.
A cabin-esque getaway feel combined with a beautiful open concept design, built with natural materials and a touch of dramatic lighting is the perfect combination for a home that needed a major rejuvenation.
When replacing your faucet, find out what type you currently have installed. Faucets are available in a wide range of prices and styles. They range from very inexpensive, mostly plastic models, to high quality brass units.
A cluttered and busy basement is transformed into a magnificent man cave that provides a fancy workspace for a craft beer brewer and as well as the perfect setting to enjoy a quaff with friends.
The design of this Georgie Award winning renovation focused on the best use of space for a large multipurpose kitchen.
A more detailed look at the magnificent renovation of a French Chateau style home. The master suite was expanded and recreated as a private resort-inspired retreat, with functional space separating the sleeping and bathing areas.
A more detailed look at the magnificent renovation of a French Chateau style home. The conversion of the dated kitchen into an efficient workspace, the new space becomes a functional heart-of-the-home for active an family.
The original French Chateau architecture of this 5300 sq ft home in White Rock, B.C. was revisited with a modern take. Built for aesthetics as much as durability, it’s decorated with a touch of Côte d’Azur glamour. The palatial house is fit for a king – but it’s no cold institution – rather, a home of captivating elegance that’s also charming for the children.
Spring is just around the corner — time to think about which kind of tiller you need for your garden. A tiller is the perfect tool for pre-planting ground preparation, as well as many other tasks during the gardening season, such as cultivating between garden rows.
This Bathroom Magic customer wanted all the latest materials and colors for their new bathroom. They removed the old tub and shower walls and said "no to more tile & grout ever!"

Though overall renovation budgets may still be on the wane, master ensuites seem to be one place where compromise and economy are secondary to luxe finishes. Hotel inspiration is common, with features such as TVs integrated in mirrors , door-less showers, and ultra high-end finishes being coveted.
The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), a non-profit trade association that has educated and led the kitchen and bath industry for more than 45 years, conducts an annual member survey to identify the latest trends in bathroom and kitchen design. Based on 350 responses throughout Canada and the United States, here are five (5) bathroom trends for 2012. Note that four (4) of the trends also cross over to Kitchen Design.
Kitchen Magic was asked to create a functional kitchen for this wheelchair bound homeowner who lived alone and had struggled with inaccessible space for many years and was greatly limited when working in the kitchen.
Problem: An outdated 1980’s family room with an awkward rounded fireplace with ineffective storage using up an entire wall in the room, has two entrances which divide the room in half.
A 50’s sensibility is modernized with a clean-lined contemporary look – making a young couple’s dream kitchen wishes come true.
Two wide entrances and a railing that was limiting traffic flow became awkward and unbalanced for our client who spent very little time in this cozy family room. To make matters worse, storage was non-existent, the furniture was bulky and the room felt like it was closing in on them. An oversized open corner mantle on the heavy oak fire place looked out of place and off scale. Our clients wanted a space that they could come home from work, relax, and spend more time with family and entertain friends.
Bathroom Magic always delivers what the customer wants. We completely renovated this residential bath by replacing the existing cabinetry, countertops, floors and shower. The room is now warm, yet sleek – transformed with the an elegant yet durable material -- Corian®! The beautiful results speak for themselves.
