Kitchen During Renovations
"What made the design possible was the fact that the kitchen was adjacent to a large and bright dinette area.” Through a two-way design process and much discourse with the client, it was decided that the kitchen would extend into this adjoining dinette space.

Kitchen After Renovations
In the designer kitchen, we see quality maple cabinetry, plenty of counter space, superb lighting, and exquisite features such as a mantle hood, Sub-Zero fridge, and a unique desk and entertainment area. The island was integrated into the adjacent cabinetry to make space for a wine fridge and a Miele steam oven. The island is designed to be utilized as preparation space. It was set lower than the rest of the kitchen counters in order to make for a more comfortable work area. “We maintained an island shape for this peninsula so that it can elevate the scale of our client’s kitchen. Counters of stainless steel, maple butcher’s block, and Silver Leaf granite created a subtle transition in height and form.”

Of course, a kitchen is nothing without plenty of storage. Numerous cabinets offer a bounty of spacious storage. Innovative thinking allowed for found storage space in non-traditional areas of the kitchen. The mantle hood includes a custom compartment for the fan blower and adjacent spaces are finished for storage.

Touch-latches are on the doors, so that the decorative mantle look is not disturbed. Pull-outs adorn the mantle legs; on the left, pull-outs for spices, and on the right are those for hanging brushes and mittens. There are lots of drawers with full extension hardware to utilize the full depth and height of the cabinets: magic corner cabinets with chrome mechanisms that slide out as the cabinet doors open to reveal items hidden beyond reach; rollout drawers within the pantry; tray storage above the microwave; and plenty more.
