Hi,
Contrary to popular belief it's really the high contrast colour scheme that make a small room feel even smaller.
However, it's also true that lighter colours reflect more light, thus making a light room, brighter.
If you want cozy - choose brown for the wall colour with perhaps a focal wall done in wallpaper with a brown/white pattern. If the wallpaper has a third colour, like lime green or robin's egg blue - then you have the option of adding some cushions and other accents in this third colour.
Alternatively, if you want to keep it lighter, then choose something like Benjamin Moore, Natural Linen CC-90 (one of my personal favourites).
Good luck with your bedroom decorating!
