A Kitchen Makes the Home

After 12 years, the family of this comfortable West coast contemporary home in Gordon Head decided to renovate their kitchen and bathrooms. The large 4500 sq ft house had an extremely generous eat-in kitchen with a walk out deck, but unfortunately, it was particularly awkward and ugly. Stripping the entire old kitchen to build it in a new design (with a greatly improved layout), would transform the room into a place that was a pleasure to be in — full of light, space, and gorgeous garden views.

Selection of the materials for the kitchen was inspired by the homeowners’ artwork and the existing paint colours of the nearby living and dining rooms. The themes used in the kitchen were continued in the upgrades of all of the bathrooms in the home. This involved an extensive renovation of the master bath (as well as walk-in closet). Overall, focus was placed on durable, easy-care materials that could take the wear and tear of a large, active family.
