Grand Home Opening

As the years pass by, the homes that were built in the 1950s to accommodate the baby boom start to feel darker and cramped. At least, that’s how these Etobicoke, Ontario homeowners felt about their space when they called in Carick Home Improvements to help them make a change. The home had a lot of room – 2500 square feet, to be exact – but quartered-off areas made it feel smaller, and the layout was inconvenient for entertaining. The exterior of the home was in need of a refresh as well, something more in line with the homeowners’ desire for a French Country look. Collaborating with the homeowners, the designers at Carick worked with a $300,000 budget and completed the project over six months, deciding that walls would need to come down on the first floor to open up the space and create an eat-in kitchen that connected to a casually elegant dining area. Upstairs renovations (not pictured in this article) included enlarging the bedrooms and redoing the bathroom entirely, and the exterior of the home got an entirely new look.
