The homeowners wanted to reface the cabinets, a more budget-conscious renovation option that would allow for some built-in specialty cabinetry, design upgrades, and granite counter tops. They needed to accommodate a big room with lots of natural light; going darker would enhance the room visually and warm it up.
Since they were keeping the same footprint, it made sense to reface the cabinets instead of replacing them (considering that the cabinets were in great condition). Additionally, they wanted to retain the hardwood oak floors, the one aspect of the existing kitchen that actually lent to the comfort of the room.

replacing fluorescent light
I would like to take down a fluorescent light and replace it with a normal light, hanging light. The problem is in the fluorescent fitting -- it is a junction box, not round oblong.
