The owners wanted a custom designed home that would meet their family lifestyle needs for many years to come, in terms of style, comfort, and energy efficiency. With a strong idea of want they wanted prior to the design, they were able to work closely with the builder to address a lot of issues such as: environmental and energy saving measures; topics important to both parties.

The Toronto “Upper Beach(es)” Area home started out as a one-storey bungalow. Not only would the entire main floor be opened up, adding the upper storey would greatly increase the size of the house. The second storey, enlarged bay window, and window and gable details enhanced the exterior from top to bottom; coloured stucco and a stone finish give a modern twist without changing the style and feel of the bungalow. And inside, the resulting look is too, modern — dark shaker style kitchen cabinets, light hardwood flooring, light colored walls in a well-light, open concept space.
