The House With No Color
QUESTION: I need some help finding exterior color palettes for my 1918 Craftsman home. I would like something original, preferably palettes using green as the body paint. Can you help?
-- Leonel Quintero from Dallas, TX
ANSWER:
Green is a gorgeous color but when used as the base color on the house, it can look very heavy and overshadowed. I would recommend that you use green as your accent color for your windows and trims, such as Benjamin Moore’s Sussex Green (HC-109) and make your base color a creamy-gray tone, like Benjamin Moore’s Bennington Gray (HC-82). As an additional accent for your door and roof shingles, go for a browny-taupe, like Benjamin Moore’s Fairview Taupe (HC-85). These three colors should be a sure direction for preserving the look and feel of your 1918 Craftsman-style home.
